As always, we see an increased amount of colic in the fall. Despite the warm weather, please remember to use a larvicidal dewormer to prevent larval migration and encysted cyathostomes that are an important cause of colic.

We are an equine practice dedicated to the health and welfare of the horse. This practice was established in 1986 and has been committed to the horse and the horse owner throughout these years. We care for many types of horses including show horses from most phases of the English and western industries, racehorses, pleasure horses and breeding stock. The wellness of the horse is of major interest to Dr. Ruth Barbour.
Establishing individual guidelines for vaccinations, dentistry, deworming wellness programs for all different types, ages and uses of horses is a high priority for BEVS, to maximize the horse's health. Lameness and prepurchase examinations with high quality digital radiography and ultrasound are available at your location, or at our location, including sale radiographs. Breeding management, pre-foaling mare care, foaling and post natal foal care are provided by the practice. We work closely with the horse owner to meet the varied requirements of many different types of horses and horse owners.
Dr. Ruth Barbour has had a lifelong interest and experience with horses including riding, breeding and racing of her own horses . Dr. Andrea Malatestinic joined the practice February of 2016, adding her experience and expertise to an already well established practice.
